Public health nutrition focuses on the importance of food security by building a healthy food supply for all. The key topics include consumer food choices, dietary habits and food consumption patterns including social, cultural, and environmental factors. This course discusses the major nutrition and health policies that underpin intervention programs and initiatives aiming to promote healthy eating behaviours in consumers or healthy food production in the food industry. Moreover, the comparisons of public health nutrition and food systems worldwide, and in Australia and China, will be described in detail. Students will be required to summarise articles relevant to a public health nutrition issue, design an intervention project, and evaluate a dietary intervention plan.
