课程描述：

本课程讲授与科学途径和过程相关的知识，譬如什么是“科学”，它是如何进行的？我们对“科学”的想法从何而来？是什么让“科学”与其他研究领域不同？“科学”是如何（以及为什么）被交流的？这些都是本课程中要探讨的一些关键问题。本课程对学生而言可能是一个不同的学习经历，因为重点是发展其技能（如思考、研究和交流）而不是任何特定的“内容”。在本课程结束时，学生将能够描述科学的原则以及科学如何在实践中应用；识别和解释与科学和数学有关的适当信息来源；讨论引用的意义并致敬他人的学术贡献；认识到在设计、解释和展示实验以及数据收集方面的局限性；反思并讨论对科学的思考是如何改变的；恰当使用科学术语。

  This course provides knowledge about scientific approaches and processes, such as what is 'science' and how does it work? Where do our ideas about 'science' come from? What makes 'science' different from other fields of study? How (and why) is 'science' communicated? These are some of the key questions that will be explored in this course. This course may be a different learning experience for students as the focus is on developing their skills (e.g. thinking, researching and communicating) rather than on any particular 'content'. By the end of this course, students will be able to describe the principles of science and how science is applied in practice; identify and interpret appropriate sources of information relating to science and mathematics; discuss the significance of citations and pay tribute to the scholarly contributions of others; recognise limitations in the design, interpretation and presentation of experiments and data collection; reflect on and discuss how thinking about science has changed; and use scientific terminology appropriately.
