统计学研究怎样有效地收集，整理和分析带有随机性的数据，以对所考察的问题做出推断或预测。数理统计课程是在概率论基础上对统计学基础理论的介绍。课程包括以下内容：抽样分布、点估计、区间估计、参数假设检验、非参数假设检验以及贝叶斯方法。
Statistics is the science of collecting, organizing and analyzing data with randomness in order to make decisions. Mathematical statistics will introduce the fundamental theory of statistical inference based on the probability theory. Topics will include sampling distribution, point estimation, confidence interval, parametric and non-parametric hypothesis test and Bayesian method.
