Haide College, jointly established by Ocean University of China and the University of Adelaide, was accredited by the Ministry of Education on April 22, 2020 (Grant No: MOE37AUA02DNR20202078N). It offers three undergraduate majors of Biotechnology, Food Science and Engineering, and Mathematics and Applied Mathematics for 1200 students. The school is located in the Laoshan Campus of Ocean University of China.

Committed to the educational principle of "integration of Chinese and foreign countries and special features", the college provides students with world-class faculties and courses by combining the educational advantages of China and Australia and introducing high-quality educational resources. The unique talent cultivation model that integrates domestic and foreign education can enhance students' ability of cross-cultural communication, interdisciplinary integration, logical thinking and innovative practice, thus cultivating innovative talents with international vision and Chinese sentiment, improving the internationalization the university, and promoting the construction of "Double First-Rate" university. Based on the educational philosophy of "Liberal Studies as Essence, Professional Studies for Utility", the college adopts the international management mode of academy institution.

In May 2018, President Yu Zhigang of OUC, along with his delegation, paid a visit to the University of Adelaide to have an in-depth meeting with President Peter Rathjen of the University of Adelaide on joint research, talent cultivation, and procedures of building the cooperative institution.

In September 2019, Prof. Pascale Quester, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Adelaide, visited Ocean University of China to discuss the establishment of the cooperative institution "Haide College".

In January 2020, the leaders of the two universities went to Beijing to participate in the centralized evaluation by experts from Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run institutions organized by the Ministry of Education, which was a great success.

On April 22, 2020, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Haide College of Ocean University of China. The establishment of Haide College of Ocean University of China is an important step for the university to promote the construction of first-class university and first-class disciplines based on its own development needs and unique geographical advantages, and strive to serve the major project of the conversion of energy sources in Shandong Province and Marine potestatem.

In June 2020, the university issued the Construction Plan of Haide College of Ocean University of China and established the General Party Branch of Haide College of Ocean University of China. In July, the university held a conference on the construction of Haide College, and the space on the south side of Xingzhi Building was officially put into use in August.

On September 17, 2020, Haide College welcomed the first batch of 292 undergraduates. Students have injected vigor into Haide College, and since then, Haide College has turned a new chapter.

On November 24, 2020, the first meeting of the joint management committee of Haide college was held. Professor Yu Zhigang, President of Ocean University of China and director of the joint management committee, and Professor Jacqueline lo, vice president and deputy director of the joint management committee of the University of Adelaide, attended and addressed the meeting. At the meeting, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on specific matters in the construction and development of Haide college. The convening of this meeting plays a positive role in promoting mutual trust, sharing advantageous resources, extending the breadth and depth of cooperation and improving the quality of running a school.

On May 28, 2021, the unveiling ceremony of Haide college was held in Laoshan campus. Professor Yu Zhigang, President of Ocean University of China and director of the joint management committee, and Professor Peter h ø J AC, President of Adelaide University, connected in the cloud to jointly unveil the brand of Haide college, and the construction and development of the college has reached a new level.

On May 28, 2021, the signing and unveiling ceremony of China Australia smart marine technology joint research center was held in Laoshan campus. The research center will mainly carry out scientific research cooperation with Australia's top universities in the fields of marine, Antarctic and engineering applications, prepare for the establishment of overseas research institutes, actively promote the international talent training reform of the integrated model of "research + practice + achievements", and the development connotation of the Institute is constantly enriched.

On September 17, 2021, the first meeting of the joint academic Steering Committee of Haide college was held. The meeting conducted in-depth discussions on the co construction and sharing of high-quality educational resources, the construction of high-level talent team, the construction of quality assurance system and the exchange of visits between teachers and students of the two universities, which promoted the improvement of teaching quality and effectively guaranteed the quality of talent training.

In September 2021, the school running space improvement project adhering to the concept of "advanced and modern, resource sharing, collaborative innovation and humanistic fashion" was completed and put into use. The construction of Chinese and Western style academic lecture hall, smart classroom and academic seminar room not only has the style of Chinese traditional culture, but also has international characteristics. The software and hardware facilities for talent training are constantly improved.

The college insists on serving the national strategy and local economic development, serving the university's "first-class university", strengthening the foundation of intelligent data analysis, highlighting marine and international characteristics, and closely matching the demand for talents in health industry and big data industry. The College has launched the construction of the Sino-Australian Joint Research Centre for Smart Ocean, focusing on marine life, food and medicine with the support of big data, and supporting undergraduates to participate in international joint research projects while conducting scientific research to enhance students' innovation and international research level.
