Haide College Successfully Holds 2025 Campus Open Day

On June 29, 2025, the Campus Open Day of Haide College, Ocean University of China (OUC), was successfully held at Laoshan Campus. OUC President Zhang Junfeng and University of Adelaide Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jessica Gallagher sent video addresses to the event. Attendees included Braden Phillips, Deputy Dean of Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology at the University of Adelaide; Ding Boyin, Academic Director of Haide College at the University of Adelaide; Qiu Yanqiong, Student Development Director for University of Adelaide Programs; Sui Yihe, Lecturer in Wine Science at the University of Adelaide; Zhao Yiming, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at OUC; Gao Hui, Deputy Director of the Undergraduate Admissions Office at OUC; Ma Yuhong, Party Secretary of Haide College; Wang Min, Dean of Haide College;delegates from five Qingdao-based universities with Sino-foreign cooperative education programs—including Qingdao University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Qingdao Agricultural University, Qingdao University of Technology, and Huanghai University—as well as over 100 representatives of prospective students and parents from across the country. The event was hosted by Dong Ping, Vice Dean of Haide College.



In his address, OUC President Zhang Junfeng briefly introduced the university’ s profile and elaborated on Haide College’s establishment background, educational objectives, and developmental direction. He emphasized that Haide College serves as a “bridgehead” for OUC’s high-level international cooperation, having cultivated outstanding students such as gold medalists in the global top-tier biology competition IGEM and volunteers for the United Nations Youth Program in China. Many graduates have been admitted to prestigious institutions like Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Harvard University for further studies, achieving remarkable results. President Zhang warmly welcomed students to join OUC and Haide College.

University of Adelaide Deputy Vice-Chancellor Jessica Gallagher introduced the basic overview of the University of Adelaide in her address. She highlighted that Haide College focuses on the strengths of both universities, enabling students to receive a globally oriented education, gain in-depth disciplinary expertise, and develop cross-cultural communication skills. She sincerely invited students to become part of Haide College.

Wang Min congratulated the prospective students on their outstanding achievements in the National College Entrance Examination and expressed gratitude to those who traveled from afar. She detailed the college’s international talent cultivation system, teaching quality assurance mechanisms, development of educational resources, and student achievements. She noted that Haide College provides students with an international platform and personalized development pathways, empowering them to create boundless possibilities in their future endeavors.

Braden Phillips introduced the geographical location and cultural history of the University of Adelaide, along with its educational philosophy, distinctive teaching models, notable accomplishments in research, and campus environment. Focusing on the unique features of Haide College, he elaborated on the three undergraduate programs, achievements of current students, and the support and benefits offered by the University of Adelaide, including scholarships, career guidance, and student services. He also excitedly announced that Adelaide University will be officially established in 2026, providing enhanced support for Haide College students and further promoting their international education and growth.

Sui Yihe, Lecturer from the University of Adelaide, delivered a demonstration lecture on “Introduction to Wine Science”, allowing prospective students and parents to experience the internationalized educational atmosphere and teaching culture of Haide College.


Peng Bo, an outstanding graduate of the Class of 2021 from the Food Science and Engineering (Sino-foreign Cooperative Education) program, shared his learning experiences, recounting his growth and gains during his four years at Haide College. Wang Shufeng, mother of Fang Yuwei - a current student of the Class of 2021 in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (Sino-foreign Cooperative Education) now studying at the University of Adelaide - spoke as a parent representative, sharing the reasons and considerations for choosing Haide College. She highly commended the college’ s effectiveness in broadening students’ international perspectives and cultivating talent, expressing pride in her child’ s transformation and achievements under Haide College’ s guidance.


Representatives from the five Qingdao-based universities introduced their respective Sino-foreign cooperative education programs: QU-Drake United College, Qingdao University; Chinesisch-Deutsche Technische Fakultät, the Sino-foreign Cooperative Programs of Qingdao University of Technology; OAU-RAU Joint Institute for Advanced Agritechnology; and the Joint Institute of Qingdao Huanghai University and Weltec.





At the end of the event, prospective students and parents actively engaged in Q&A sessions regarding the college’ s offerings and admissions policies. After the indoor conference, attendees visited the college’ s practical activity spaces, teaching areas, and experimental centers to gain a better understanding of the educational environment.
