This summer, with the support and guidance of the school Youth League Committee, Haide College and the School of International Education jointly organized a social practice week for Chinese and foreign college students, with the theme of Sailing and Dreaming Deep Blue · Deep Encountering Qingdao for the 'Ten Years of the Ocean'. Chinese and foreign students jointly carried out practical activities such as on-site observation, research, and experience, to appreciate Qingdao's advantages in marine development, and feel the positive role played by Qingdao in building a maritime power Demonstrating responsibility.
After conducting on-site research, a social practice group of Chinese and foreign university students came to Qingdao Beidiao Art Museum to enhance their understanding of Beidiao, a brand new artistic symbol that carries Qingdao's sea culture, by admiring dazzling Beidiao works. Qingdao shell carving is a traditional Chinese craft that uses rare snail shells as raw materials, utilizing their natural color and texture shapes to carve into various forms and specifications such as flat, semi relief, inlay, and three-dimensional.
In the shell carving workshop, the instructor enthusiastically explained to the practice team the process of shell carving craft production, the history of Qingdao shell carving handicraft factory, and the important position and significance of shell carving as a city gift in Qingdao. Here, everyone saw the workers coloring the shells, who were completely focused and not disturbed by our arrival. They also saw the hot shell carvings just produced from the carving machine, each one full of vitality like a newly born life. Subsequently, the team members arrived at the exhibition hall, where various types of shell carvings were displayed. The combination of the supernatural craftsmanship of nature and human wisdom and skills in art has attracted continuous emotions from both Chinese and foreign students. Finally, the team members personally created their own flat shell carvings, experiencing the vast and profound traditional Chinese techniques through hands-on practice, and experiencing the unique blue charm of Qingdao.
