From the birth of the Qingdao Marathon in 2017 to its fifth anniversary in 2022, this 42.195km course under the blue sea and sky has become a place where countless runners have burned their passion and released their feelings. Here, they have created their own peaks one after another, and made the Qingdao Marathon a World Association of Athletics Federations (WAAF) Label Race and China Athletics Association Gold Medal Race.
On April 22nd, at 7:30am, Haier-2023 Qingdao Marathon started at the North Square of May 4th Square. 25,000 runners from all over the world ran together on the most beautiful course running through the blue sea and blue sky to connect the sweat of the past and the desire of today. Volunteers from various colleges and universities were also involved in the race, including 22 little koala volunteers from Haide College. They successfully completed the volunteer work and won the praise of the organising committee and the participants.
On the morning of April 1, the organizing committee of the competition convened volunteers from Laoshan Campus to conduct a unified training session at the Student Activity Centre. The judges were attentive to the instructions and the volunteers listened carefully, trying to recharge and improve their service ability, in order to better protect the Qingdao Marathon.
On the evening of April 5, 22 volunteers from Haide College were sent to an online training session organized by the head of the volunteer service initiative, Mr. Peng Bo. The training reemphasized the key points of the training and put forward four requirements: safety, liaison, service and assistance. The Haide students are eager to show their Haide style on a broader stage.
At 3.30am, it was still dark and only the streetlights were standing by. The volunteers arrived early at the meeting point, ready to run to their posts. They were methodical and meticulous in their preparations for the official start of the run.
As the gun went off, the volunteers went about their busy work. Haide College's course guide volunteers waved their hands to guide runners in the right direction. A touch of green became an indispensable presence on the racecourse.
