On the afternoon of March 30th, the Panda Academy, a Chinese traditional culture enlightenment program for children under the Little Koala volunteer service team at HaideCollege, held its second event. HaideCollege student volunteers went to the North Zhai Street Social Work Station in Laoshan District to carry out the theme activity of Hand in Hand with Calligraphy, Inheriting Chinese Character Culture.

Before the event started, the volunteers arrived at the North Zhai Street Social Work Station and exchanged relevant matters with the staff in charge, introducing the HaideCollege youth volunteer organization - the Little Koala volunteer service team, and the establishment and original intention of the Panda Academy. The Panda Academy fully utilizes the characteristics and advantages of the college system at HaideCollege and relies on the Haide-North Zhai university student practical education base to bring branded activities such as Traditional Culture Workshop into the community, encouraging students to become sharers and disseminators of Chinese culture while improving their own cultural literacy. In the first event last Thursday, the Panda Academy led the children to use grains to paint and experience the charm of traditional art.

This week, the Panda Academy focused on children's basic writing skills, bringing a lesson in hard pen writing to children aged 3-8 in North Zhai Street. In the classroom, under the patient guidance of the volunteers, the children obediently picked up their pencils and wrote with great interest. From the character one to the children's own names, stroke by stroke, the intention was to teach the children that one is the most basic stroke of Chinese characters, and all complex Chinese characters are composed of basic strokes. Patiently laying a good foundation is the key to success. And a name is a mark that accompanies a person for a lifetime. Writing one's own name and experiencing its meaning is more conducive to children's appreciation of the profundity of Chinese characters.

At the end of the event, student speaker Shao Xiangyang brought the children a lively and profound lesson on Chinese character culture. Starting from the origin of Chinese characters, he explained the profound cultural implications of writing in the simplest and most understandable language, guiding the children to think actively and speak actively, and creating an educational and entertaining classroom. Each Chinese character has its unique meaning, and the strokes on paper contain the crystallization of the wisdom of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. Cultivating the habit of loving writing is the best way to inherit Chinese culture.

In the future, the Little Koala volunteer service team at HaideCollege will make full use of the advantages of school-community co-construction with the North Zhai Street Youth League Committee to continue to carry out the Soaring Seagull - Community Youth Action volunteer activities and play the song of youth dedication in volunteer activities.
