My research interest focuses on the molecular genetics and developmental biology of marine animals with economic potential (eg. fish and shrimp). Taking advantages of the state-of-the-art biotechnologies and methodologies such as high-throughput DNA sequencing, transgenic and gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9) systems, genome-wide associated study (GWAS) et. al., we aim to unveil the molecular mechanisms that regulate the biological process of economic traits such as coloration, growth and disease resistance, as well as the genetic basis that leads to the variation of these traits in different individuals/families. Our ultimate goal is to use these knowledges to produce/breed superior aquaculture animals with high quality and low producing cost.
