Located in the Laoshan Campus of Ocean University of China (OUC), Haide College is a Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution jointly established by Ocean University of China and the University of Adelaide in Australia on April 22, 2020 with the official approval of the Ministry of Education (license number: MOE37AUA02DNR20202078N). It currently offers three undergraduate majors: Biotechnology, Food Science and Engineering, and Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, with a total enrollment of 1,200 students.
Committed to the educational principle of "Sino-Australian integrated and characteristic education", the college provides students with world-class faculties and courses by combining the educational advantages of both countries and introducing high-quality educational resources. The unique talent cultivation model that integrates domestic and foreign education can enhance students' competence of intercultural communication, interdisciplinary integration, logical thinking, innovative practice, leadership, thus cultivating innovative talents with international vision and Chinese sentiment, improving the internationalization of OUC, and promoting the construction of "Double First-Rate" university. Based on the educational philosophy of "Liberal Studies as Essence, Professional Studies for Utility", the college adopts the brand new international management mode of academy institution.
In May 2018, President of OUC, Yu Zhigang, along with delegation, paid a visit to the University of Adelaide to have an in-depth meeting with President, Peter Rathjen on joint research, talent cultivation, and procedures of building the cooperative institution.
In September 2019, Professor Pascale Quester, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Adelaide, visited OUC to discuss the establishment of the cooperative institution "Haide College".
In January 2020, the leaders of the two universities went to Beijing to participate in the centralized evaluation by experts from Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institutions organized by the Ministry of Education with fruitful results.
On April 22, 2020, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Haide College. The establishment of Haide College is an important measure for the university to promote the construction of first-class university and disciplines based on development needs and unique geographical advantages, and strive to serve the major project of the conversion of energy sources in Shandong Province and Marine Power Strategy.
In June 2020, the university issued the Construction Plan of Haide College and established the General Party Branch of Haide College of OUC. Qin Shanghai was appointed Secretary of the General Party Branch of College and Dong Junyu as Dean (June 2020 to October 2022).
On September 17, 2020, Haide College opened its doors to its first class of 292 undergraduates, who brought passion and promise into Haide to turn a new chapter.
On November 24, 2020, the first meeting of the joint management committee of Haide college was held. President Yu and Vice President of the University of Adelaide, Jacqueline Lo, addressed the meeting. The two sides had in-depth discussion on specific matters in the construction and development of Haide college, which plays a positive role in promoting mutual trust, sharing advantageous resources, extending the breadth and depth of cooperation and improving the quality of school-running.
On May 28, 2021, the unveiling ceremony of Haide college was held on Laoshan campus. Professor Yu and Professor Peter Høj AC, President of Adelaide University, attended the online ceremony to announce the establishment of Haide, which promotes the the construction and development of the college to advance to new levels.
On May 28, 2021, the signing and unveiling ceremony of Sino-Australian Center for Smart Ocean Research was held on Laoshan campus. The center will mainly carry out scientific research cooperation with Australian top universities on marine, Antarctic and engineering applications, prepare for the establishment of overseas research institutes, promote the international talent training reform of the integrated model of "research & practice & products". The development connotation of the Haide is constantly enriched.
On September 17, 2021, the first meeting of the joint academic Steering Committee of Haide college was held, which discussed on the co-construction and sharing of high-quality educational resources, talent resources, assurance system and the exchange of visits between teachers and students of the two universities, which promotes the improvement of teaching and talent training quality .
In September 2021, adhering to the concept of "advanced and modern, resource sharing, collaborative innovation and humanistic fashion", the improvement project of college facility was completed and put into use. The construction of Chinese & Western style academic hall, smart classroom and academic seminar room not only embraces the style of Chinese traditional culture, but international features. The software and hardware facilities for talent training are constantly improved.
On December 16, 2021, the Standing Committee of the Party of OUC decided to adjust the general branch committee of Haide College of OUC of the CPC to the committee of Haide College of OUC of the CPC. In July 2022, students from the college's first class of "2+2" cultivation model arrived at the University of Adelaide in Australia, starting a new two-year study life abroad.

In October 2022, the Standing Committee appointed Wang Min as the dean of Haide College.
In February 2023, the teaching space of Haide College, located in the second teaching area of Laoshan Campus, was upgraded and put into use, greatly improving the college-running conditions and laying a solid foundation for the internationalization of the college.
The college insists on serving the national strategy and local economic development as well as the construction of "first-class university". It constantly strives to strengthen the basis of intelligent data analysis, put forth effort on marine and international construction, and closely match the demand for talents in health and big data industry. Facilitated by the Research Centre, the College focuses on marine organism, food and medicine with the support of big data, and encourages undergraduates to participate in international joint research projects to enhance innovation and international research level.
